Makes 1-1/2 quarts
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 5 cups cold water, divided
- Lemon peel from 2 lemons
- Juice of 8 lemons
- In a saucepan combine the sugar, 1 cup water, and lemon peels. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer gently, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes. Set aside to cool.
- Strain juice into a serving pitcher. Add fresh lemon juice and remaining water.
- Chill lemonade and serve over ice.
