Considered one of the most powerful food people by TheDailyMeal.com, Michelle Obama is also well known for her fashion sense (and toned arms). To further de-fur the First Lady’s wardrobe, PETA recently sent Obama a stylish faux leather jacket.
Via PETA.org, “In a letter accompanying the jacket [which was from Asos.com], we explained how cows raised for their flesh and skin endure branding, dehorning, castration, and tail-docking, all without painkillers. At the slaughterhouse, many are improperly stunned, meaning that they are skinned and dismembered while still conscious.”
PETA hoping to influence fashion
PETA wants the fashion icon Obama to banish all skins from her closet in hopes that she will inspire other stylish American women to be more conscientious of animals rights and opt for cruelty-free clothing.
What are some of your favorite cruelty-free clothing lines that you’d like to see in the First Lady’s closet?
