A classic Christmas nibble, rum balls are a decadent blend of nuts, cookie, sugar, and rum. Easy to make, this vegan holiday dessert is perfect for holiday entertaining as well as giving away as a vegan holiday gift. Best yet, you can prep vegan rum balls up to three days ahead and refrigerate until you’re ready to serve. Tasty and time-saving!
Vegan Rum Balls
Makes 2 dozen
Ingredients:
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 2 cups crushed vegan chocolate wafer cookies
- 2 cups powdered sugar, divided
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1/4 cup dark rum
Directions:
- In a food processor, combine walnuts, cookie crumbs, and 1-1/2 cups sugar. Pulse to finely chop.
- Add cocoa, syrup, and rum and pulse until mixture comes together. Adjust consistency by adding more sugar, if too dry, or more rum, if too wet.
- Form mixture into 24 rum balls using your hands.
- Roll in remaining powdered sugar and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Where did you get vegan chocolate wafer cookies? I’m not sure what those are.
I suppose one could use oreo’s, they are a great vegan chocolate wafer cookie.
